  • Hi everyone. A lot has happened in my life:

    I was married on June 16 2007

I got a beautiful apartment with my husband

Jared and I adopted 2 Farms cats

I ran an office for a year

My sister had a handsome baby boy : Caius

I have been distant from everyone I know for the last year. I try to keep in touch but I get so caught up in what I am doing that I don't think beyond. I put so much effort into the work I do and I usually do a great job but there are more things in life than work. I truly believe I am a recovering workaholic. It is a process. I am trying to branch off and become closer to my friends and family.

I met one of my neighbors the other day: Anagha & Yashwant. She and her husband are from India. They have two very small children. Anagha and I have been trying to have tea together. I have love to spend more time with her.

My best friend is struggling with whether she should start dating her old boyfriend again. Their breakup was pretty hard but they are best friends and really do care for eachother so the question is whether he should have a second......scratch that....Third chance. I say go slowly and be friends for a while. I think that is how she is going to play it. I really want the best for her so I don't want to see her hurt.

My sis is doing good. Caius is looking more and more like her. It is amazing...the resemblance.

  • I am going to gain weight. It is inevitable. I live with a living master. My husband cooks the most tempting food. But you know what, I'll take the weight. Anything for another bite of last night meal. Jared made a rib sticking meal.....Beef Stroganoff

Beef Stroganoff: It is a Russian dish of sautéed pieces of beef served in a sauce with sour cream. The sour cream is really what makes the dish creamy he says.

    Yummy goodness......

The Night Before we had our first Fall meal. I made a pumpkin soup (yes I cooked for a change).

Pumpkin Soup: It needed some help from Jared but it turned out well. I put the soup in pumpkin bowls (I had Jared scoop out the insides for me) which I thought was a cute idea. I also cute up a fresh watermelon and cooked fresh green beans from his parents farm. To top it off I made a milky holiday spice tea. What can I say....my husband is inspiring

Jared even carved a pumpkin for our patio.

and made a decoration of corn for our door

Check out the next post from today....more yummy food.

  • Moon Food

I have to be the luckiest woman alive. I have a husband who is not only kind, sweet, and considerate but he also does laundry, dusts, sweeps, vacuums, tinkers, and most of all.....COOKS. My husband is an amazing cook. He can try something once...it doesn't matter if it is your granny's prized secret....he can recreate it generally on the first try (you have to leave room for the first time needing tweaking).

Warning: Picture may cause hunger pains. Please consult your nearest vending machine before viewing the following.

    First Meal: Will post soon

    Image pending.....

    Appetizers

Garlic Bread: As an appetizer Jared baked bread in the broiler on night.

    Good Food 027

He rubbed the hot bread with actual cloves of garlic individually to enhance the flavor. Then he drizzled a garlic and olive oil mixture on top of that.

    Good Food 030

Hummus: This starter is made special. I'll get the details soon but the base is made from chickpeas.

    Good Food 024

Tuna Puff: I'm not sure that is the name but it was a very interesting dish with a lemon zest and capers on the side. His mom loved it.

    Good Food 025

    I liked it too....

    Good Food 026

Club Crackers: Good for the spreads.

    Cheese:....name pending

    Main Courses

Chicken Fajitas: My husband made an amazing Fajita mexican dish. First he burnt the skins off the peppers. Then he sauted that with onions, chicken, and seasoning. He also made nice potatoes, rices and beans. Not to mention he also made his own tortillas which were perfect. He also made his own creamy sauce to go with it.

Close up you can see he put all those ingredients together to make one fine fajita

    Other 015

Spinach Ravioli: Another amazing meal was the ravioli meal he made for me and later his parents as well. He made the ravioli himself with a pasta maker, filled them with a nice spinach mixture, then boiled them until the were nice and tender. Then he put a tomato sauce and pecorino romano on top......ummm

He prepared a nice table with...

Iced Tea: In my favorite water pitcher given to me by Mrs. Moser (the sweetest lady alive)

    Good Food 038

....Arancini: They are fried or, less commonly, baked rice balls, having a diameter of 8-10 cm, filled usually with ragu'(meat sauce), but also with tomato sauce, mozzarella, peas, and other things. On the outside they are simply breadcrumbs. These little treats are so easy to make and yet are soo very filling. We ate them up very fast. Luckily he made several so we were able to enjoy them most of the week. I'll make sure to post the recipe here soon in this section.

....Sparkling Pomegranate: it was a sparkling Pomegranate drink of some sort. I'll ask him how he made it soon.

Our Fireplace: He also made desert by the fire that night. He lite one of those artificial logs made of sawdust and candle wax. So romantic...

Name pending: Jared made this orange, apple, custard dessert that he baked in the oven. It was wonderful

  • Car Accident

The new photos are from Jared's car accident. He doesn't like to be reminded but it is amazing how he got out of that car with only a scratch. The car flipped and was upside down. The top front was smashed in. The police officer said "you are lucky you are short."

They made him go to the hospital even though he wasn't hurt and that complicated things. His cell phone was destroyed in the crash but the police officer was willing to make some calls for him. Jared could only remember his parents number so the police officer call his parents and told him to go to the hospital

I got a call from Jared's parents. They explained what they could but they told me all this at 6 in the morning so I was pretty confused. I wanted to know why he couldn't call himself.....and I wasn't buying "he's all right." I just wanted to hear his voice. His parents wanted to drive up and take me to the hospital (which only worried me more because it is an hour drive)  but Jared was finally able to get ahold of me and tell me to just come on my own. It was very comforting to just hear his voice. and has never sounded sweeter.

I found the hospital (through worried tears and comforting support of Ken, Jared's father, on the phone). After we got some things from the towing lot and our barely recognizable car, Jared still wanted me to take him to work.....glass on the shoulders and all. I took him there and talked with the supervisor...they were willing to give him the day off after they saw the pictures. He needed the rest.

The whole event made me appreciate the little times. That morning, before Jared left, was very special. If Jared hadn't been fine.....he would have given me a beautiful morning to remember.

  • Jared's Near Death Crash.......Ok he only got a scratch but the car was totaled. Jared fell asleep at the wheel. Talk about a wake up call. Don't remind him of it...I'll just quietly gawk at the pictures we took of the crash. I’ll post them when I get home.
